Was expecting a great movie, not a teenage drama with unrealistic psychoanaleses of the stereotypical clique members -- The nerd; the jock; the burnout; the punk; the beauty queen. Some laughs here and there, but not exactly the best 80's teen flick; Bears major significance, but its frivolous features made me think otherwise. Of course, being born in '91, I can't nostalgically relate to this. So, its appeal might differ from person to person.

An examination on the segregation of groups in school, The Breakfast Club showcases stereotypically different people learning through their differences. The film reflects the shallow divides of youth and the materialistic differences that erect these social barriers, but delves into the quality that binds these people - heart. The learning curves of adolescence are shown through the simple but affecting premise of understanding. The film proves the dominant steps to maturity as being the understanding and relation to others and the idea that you learn the most from people unlike you.

John Hughes had an unparalleled insight into the mindset and angst of people at this time of life, and the Breakfast Club strengthens that ideal firmly. The Estevez monologue is worth a viewing in itself, and the all round performances of the crew fit together brilliantly.

The film feels a little flat at times and gears very slowly, but its insight into segregation is a marvel.

John Hughes in best form; I was all 5 characters as 1 growing up. But I became molly ringwolds dad in the end - as I had the same car (BMW 528i - SAd!) profound, funny, moving and absolutel,y spot on portrayal of teen angst (mine anyway) never dates either as most of these flicks do.

Wonderful...........The Breakfast Club is the greatest absoulute best movie in the universe, nothing can top this movie. John Hughes makes the best movies(The Breakfast Club,Weird Science,Sixteen Candles, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off) When my mom first showed this movie I was hooked on the 80s. I have a collection of 13 80s flicks and I keep them seperated from my other movies. I even love the music and the lingo. If anyone wants to get interested into the 80s this is the perfect movie to watch!!!!!!!!

i knew it was the same high school as it was in the other movies. Sorry, i was just answering a comment. Okay 1st of all, THE BREAKFAST CLUB is the best movie ever made!!! I love FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF alot too but my all time fav movie is THE BREAKFAST CLUB!!! My only thing i didn't like was they didn't make a second movie, i wish they would have made at least a part 2 to this excellent, superb, great & totally fantastic movie of all time!!!
Okay I know that this was & always will be a GREAT MOVIE but what happened to the cast. Molly Ringwald & Emilio Estevez(he really is the son of Martin Sheen & brother of Charlie Sheen)& Judd Nelson & Ally Sheedy & Anthony Michael Hall were ALL great in this movie. Paul Gleason was great in this movie too. Why in the world didn't they make more movies about school detention or high school life, I know for sure that I def would have loved all of the movies alot, I mean c'mon, THE BREAKFAST CLUB was,is,&always will be the best movie ever made
