I REALLY enjoyed this movie. It had an excellent story line, was well directed, and was heart-warming. It's a tear jerker though and I had to try very hard not to cry.

    i have to be honest.
at first i had no inclination towards this movie. not in the least. i really didn't even know much about it, but from what i HAD seen of it ( only a few advertisement posters in walmart)...i wasn't too interested.
this is a perfect example of why i think you should watch nearly every movie that comes out. here is one absolute gem of a movie that i would have missed if not for my mom's friend renting it tonight (thanks, menno).

the bucket list is a film about llife, about death, about love and hate, pride and humility. it's about stepping back for a minute and taking a good, honest look at yourself and deciding if you're living up to your fullest potential.
but most importantly, it's about just recognizing and appreciating the beauty of in and out, everyday life. of just the oppurtunity to spend one more day here with us on this planet.
this film also subtley tackles the tough questions that everyone eventually wonders at some time or another: what am i doing on this planet? do i have a purpose to my life, or am i just kind of wandering aimlessly through it?
edward (jack nicholson) and carter (morgan freeman) have definately begun to consider these things after being told they each have terminal cancer and only one more year to live, tops...and that's if they're extremely lucky.
so these two old men meet while in the hospital, and eventually they decide to write what they call a 'bucket list'...a list of everything they want to experience before they 'kick the bucket' (die). so with the clock ticking, the two pals set out to cross off everything single thing on their list. and a very diverse list it is, including everythingfrom sky diving to visiting the great wall of china to laughing until they've cried.
along the way, they discuss topics such as faith (edward is pretty much a self described athiest, while carter believes there is some Creator), forgiveness, loyalty, and if their lives have turned out like they originally planned.
a scene i especially liked was when edward and carter are sitting on the top of an egyptian pyrimid over lunch, and carter tells of a belief of the ancient egyptians'. they said that when a man dies, he is taken to the gates of heaven and asked two questions. his answers will determine whether or not he deserves to pass through the gates.
the man is asked if his life has brought himself joy.
the man is asked if his life has brought joy to others.
just ask yourself those two questions, and then maybe you'll start to get an idea of whether or not you're actually LIVING for something significant.

a total breath of fresh air, the bucket list uses a simple, warm-hearted story to deliver a powerful message that will hopefully leave viewers with a bit to think about long after the show ends. i know i have. even though i'm only 15 years old, i've decided i'm going to write my own bucket list.
definately the best inspirational film i've seen in a long while. maybe the best ever.

one thing's for sure, i know that tonight i was questioning the way i've been living out my life.

Not great, but not bad either. Freeman and Nicholson bring some interest to the story. Worth renting and it has a pretty good message.

I am not completely sure what all the hype is about. It is a good story about two men at the end of their lives having an adventure. I didn't really see anything spectacular. Not even the usual level of acting I have come to expect from these two veteran actors. The ending was horribly sad I and I found nothing inspirational about it at all.

Jack Nicholson, and Morgan Freeman were a good combination in this movie. The ending was sad, but you kind of knew it was coming.

I thought the title was boring at first and I didn't read about tha movie ,,but I like both the actors ,,so I watched it ,,and wow I didn't even know it was about Cancer,,amongst other things ,,friendship, etc.I am glad to see yet another movie about the disease ..THANK-YOU :) I am also glad to see that they showed more of the stages you go through ,,but mildly ...,no-one would really want to see the extremities, trust me when I say this ...,this movie was a treat for me ,,and I recommend it for all to see, whether you have CANCER or not :))

I thought the story line was somewhat absurdly implausible but it was saved by typically awesome performances by both Nicholson and Freeman. The humor it brought to a horribly tragic scenario was potentially a problem but both actors overcame it through sheer talent.

A heart warming friendship between two strangers on a simple yet adventurous quests, it had two legendary actors and a great script yet something didn't seem right..blame Reiner?

A beautiful list about very different men finding a way to face their impending death in very different and very similar ways. Each brings to the other exactly what he need to find peace before his final days.

Two of the all-time great actors team together at last, and all I can say is that I'd wished for more. The script is weak, the story uneven, but the combination of these two men on screen is irresistible. It's amazing to me that Freeman and Nicholson have never worked together before.

I must say that the idea of fulfilling a list of desires in the face of numbered days made me think, but the overall strength of things such as dialog in general, and especially actual wish-fulfillment events like the skydiving and the car racing left me flat. To the film's credit, at least Nicholson's reuniting with his daughter was handled in as tasteful and non-sentimental way as possible. I want one more with these two acting giants, but with a stronger script.

absolutely love the movie. The way Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson help each other out knowing that they are both in the same boat. It's a very touching ending and would recomend this movie to all the people I know.

A story about trust, personal differences and a friendship based on the fact that two men have reached their last days. Quite amazing. Two brilliant actors right here.

A touching and at times funny film - following two men on the trip of their lives...shames its a trip that is going to be their last. Both actors do a tremendous job - I just wish there were more of the 'travel' scenes, Morgan Freemans backstory is espcially intriguing. Well worth the time.

One of the best movies I have seen in my entire life. It's giving another chance at life in the brink of death. It reminds me of giving your best shot in everything you do and living your life to the fullest everyday, never letting go of your dreams before you start losing time.

Wow! At first I didn't want to watch this... but when I finally watched it? it was moving, and touched something in everyone that watched it. It gives you things to think about and made me realize that to enjoy our lives even if at times we feel like there is nothing to celebrate or to look forward to. Sometimes we just need to change the way we look at things. It?s a definite film worth watching!
