I missed the start of this movie but I doubt that mattered much. This movie could be followed by an infant. The story was horrible, the performances were dreadful, the casting was awful. The most disturbing thing is how they didn't even stay true to the original. The swearing was unecessary and seemed forced. They decided to make the movie campy like the show but then added swearing, that is kind of a half-hearted attempt at recreation if you ask me. Either stay away from campy or go all the way. This movie all in all was just not worth my time. If it wouldn't have already been playing when I sat down I wouldn't have ever watched it. I would not reccomend this movie to anybody that has any taste in cinema.

based on the tv series the dukes of hazzard(1979-1985)became a remake in big-screen.
director jay chandrasekhar who his work as "super troopers" and "club dread" and later then "beerfest". johnny knoxville, william seann scott, and jessica simpsons(of her film debut)greatest preform.

so follow prequel as "dukes of hazzard: the beginning"

The real Dukes would have never beat the hell out of the general like that. I only like the general in the movie the story sucked and the acting sucked even more and did they have to bash the general on the highway the way they did. Todays people are so pc and thin skinned that it's really sad oh boo hoo so there is a southern flag on top get over it.

    Amen to the following comment.....
rayman0071 This was a disgrace to the original series and I know that two of the original stars of that show (John Schneider and Tom Wopat)are pissed off and madder than hell after what the producers did. I don't blame them one bit.

Not to mention Catherine Bach, who even madder than they are. Nor for that manner James Best.

I know Denver Pyle(Uncle Jesse)and Sorrell Brooke(Boss Hogg)are really rolling in their graves now because of this and should be. One of the worst films of 2005.

I got to meet Sorrel Brooke in 1986 when he was at a car show with the General Lee. and He was a awesome man, awesome actor and he loved his character, Boss.
And PLease.. Burt reynolds is NO Boss Hogg. He was tall and Skinny and there is no comparison.
I suppose for the younger generation that wasn't raised on the series.... its a entertaining movie. But for the true fans of the originals its a disgrace.
