I actually watched this yesterday but I should've watched it today after knowing the relationship between October 31st and evil spirits (According to the film). "The Exorcism of Emily Rose," I'd say, is an average horror film. The first half is rather open for the audience - rather agnostic with its subjects. But later in the film, you begin to see the purpose for the making of this movie and that's where the attached scares come in. The scares are mostly jump-at-you scares, though there are some eerie details. Balancing everything scary is the other half of the movie related to the court case, which might or might not be necessary for some. As one who's interested in the topics covered in the court case, I didn't mind overall, but "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" does tend to be a drag with its length. Nevertheless, it was a pleasant experience and it's extremely coincidental that I have a watch in my room - which I haven't been able to find for two years - that has its alarm go off at about 3AM every day. ehe.
A very good film, though more of a drama than the trailers implied. Don't be fooled by its legacy, the demonic focus is almost secondary in this one.
I watched this expecting another disappointing 'An American Haunting' film. But I liked this much better. Although it's not one of the best horror films, it's chilling and in my case quite frankly disturbing. I didn't actually find it scary whilst watching, but it lingered in my mind quite a while after. Decent performances from Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson.
A very good movie, re-watch to understand it more, enjoyable.
creepy and actually really well made, I enjoyed it very much
Exorcism movies are getting rather tiresome, don't you find? And "Exorcism of Emily Rose" proves that notion.
this is totally one of a kind and best movie of all time since the exorcist..it has a deeper meaning and message to the people..its between science and religion..i believe in paranormal, same as to father moore..also i'l like to recognized emily and the lawyer of father moore..they are a very good actress..definitely...and it scares me a lot after i seen it..the 3 am thing..it really is!!!its a different kind of scary movie i mean compare to horroer or suspense..its like after u seen it, many questions are comes up to ur mind..this is definitely "two thumbs up"a movie that will recognize today, tommorow and in the future...
this is one of the best films i've ever seen.made me scary the whole night.3:00 am,,,whoww.
the other day i was alone in my dorm room, well nothing happened actually thank god just get a little spooky after watching the movie.
A really gripping, and fascinating, story. This movie had me gripped from start to finish and the performances and direction were first rate. It isn't your classic horror movie by any stretch of the imagination but it is a frightening story none the less.
The exorcism of emily rose didnt scare me like i thought it would, it had a much deeper story than i imagined. The story was about what you believe paranormal things to be and whether you look at them from a scientific point of view or a religous pont of view. The film asks lots of questions about science and faith but you have to find your own answers. The performances from the actors/actresses were amazing and you really felt for the characters. I was expecting something scary and came out with something questioning what i believed and has left me thinking about paranormal/exorcisms ever since.
This film was utter shit the best bit was were she was in some kind of backwards crab and a bloke asked if she was ok how dumb is that
