There's nothing worse than leper fisherman ghosts hell-bent on revenge. They cranked the creepout factor pretty high and I even jumped a few times. Not bad for a movie that's almost as old as I am.

Boring. As soon as I saw pirates emerge out of the fog like 15 minutes into the movie, I was like wah wah wahhh. I'm sorry, but ghost-pirates: NOT SCARY. Surprisingly, this is on a lot of top horror movie lists, but I say pass it up.

An interesting premise and story and the atmosphere is fairly creepy. But this movie is fecking slow! How long does it take to start and how long are the intervals between deaths? Holy feck! Dumb ending too.

An eerie, atmospheric horror film. This is a ghost story with minimal effects, good acting, and well-built tension. The movie is well shot, with a creepy musical score. One of John Carpenter's best.

I like this version better than the newer one. It was alot creepier without any special effect. Those glowing red eyes will stay in my head for a good while.
