An absolute joy ride! This movie has just the right balance of sillyness. They don't too many movies like this now and days. It just goes to show how times in the movie bussiness have changed... sigh

That a great movie but a good movie and definitely one that my generation loved. A group of kids go searching for pirate's treasure that will save their homes from foreclosure. Throw in some bandits, a deformed guy who loves baby Ruth candy bars, and some teen romance and you have the Goonies.

    Steven Spielberg - Amazing.
One film that's AWESOME! A great movie, such a classic! It's every kids dream adventure! Do the truffle shuffle! ;)

A cast of kids (Who named themselves "The Goonies'') find a map in the attic - A map leading them to ''One-Eyed" Willy's hidden fortune.

Of course you have the bad guys - The Fratelli family, consisting of Mother and two sons...so you think, but we later find a third son, ''Sloth'' who's kept locked away.
The gateway to the treasure just happens to be under the Fratelli's house. As the Goonies find there way down there, they are quickly followed by the evil family.

They find a system of old, but clever, traps. Which they must get through to survive, and find the treasure.

The Goonie gang is made up of a range of characters - You have the leader, Mikey, who dreams of finding the treasure and going on a huge adventure. You have his older brother Brandon, who's your typical teenage boy.
Then Mouth - Who is pretty self explanatory - Is all mouth. Young kid who thinks he is cool.
Then Chunk who only cares about food.
There is geeky Data who lives his life creating wacky inventions like his father. Also Stef and Andy - Two girly girls who seem to have just accidently been dragged along on the adventure.

    Great movie. Watch it!

Such noisy, immature cast members...they like ruin the whole movie. The booby traps and the hideous Sloth dude were great, but the cast mess it all up.

i love this movie when i was little and i keep watching over and over this movie and it was blast!

so what can i say about "the goonies" character...chunk(jeff cohen)is the most funniest along with the sloth, data(key huy quan)is the invention & the james bond "wannabe", mikey(sean astin)is the sort of popluar and the leader of the goonies, mouth(corey feldman)is one of the funniest joke of his friend, brand(josh brolin)is the muscle & change of the boys "wannabe", and andy(kerri green)is the look sexy who fall in love with brand and along with her friend stef(martha plimpton).

    goonies never dies...

The Goonies is what can only be described as Indiana Jones for kids. It's a quest for a larger than life legend that develops into a non-stop thrill ride. The quest for One Eyed Willie is right up there with the Ark and those rocks in the Indian village. Directed by the legendary Richard Donner the film is about a group of misfit kids who are about to see their lives bulldozed for a new golf course. As one event leads into another they end up in the caves on the Pacific Coast heading for an old pirate treasure while being chased by a viscous family of criminals.

The Goonies is just your basic tale of chasing after treasure, but it's brought together with a good script, some fine young actors, and the great Richard Donner who can direct anything. It's one of those movies that sticks in a whole generations mind.

Impressive kids flick from the 80's with a good storyline and likeable characters. I didn't see it for the first time until I was a little bit older but it's the perfect film for kids.

The best kid's movie going around! When growing up, I used to watch this movie, over and over and over. I haven't gotten sick of it, infact I love it more today than I did before. Having an adventure like the "goonie" kids did, was something I always wanted to do when I was little! love this movie!

Yeah, I can see how this would have been fun for children in the eighties, but I definitely missed the boat. Shucks.

I have fond memories of this film from my youth, which may cloud my judgment somewhat today, but something has to be said for a film that I continue to watch over and over again.

There's a genuine sense of wonderment and adventure that carries throughout the film. Whether it's an organ that threatens death if the wrong note is played, a wishing well that talks back to you, a loveable monster chained in the basement, a pirate ship filled with gold, and half-dozen of the coolest booty traps ever devised. (Booty traps? That's what I said! Booby traps!)
Oh, and Chunk is by far the funniest kid I've ever seen, in any movie, the blender confession and his reactions to the dead body first in the freezer and then in the trunk of the car, hilarious! Do the truffle shuffle! ha ha ha.

Despite the fact that I love this movie and would easily recommend it to just about anyone, there are a few cracks in the armor that I never noticed before. A lot of the kids' line readings are all off. The pacing of the third act drags noticeably and a lot of the special effects show their age. Much of the dialogue is simplistic and trite, while there are easily a handful of entirely unnecessary sequences. (The whole "water pipes exploding at the country club" scene, for example.)

But why mess with fond memories? None of these shortcomings come close to making The Goonies a bad film, by todays stamdards its still top-notch in my opinion, and the overwhelmingly "fun" tone of the movie goes a really long way, you feel more like you were on a theme park ride than actually watching a movie.

This movie is so cool (: There is so much adventure packed into one film, it is hard to get bored. Although, alot of the characters speak at extremely high pitches very loudly which can sometimes make the film slightly annoying. However, Corey Feldman, Sean Astin, Jeff Cohen & Martha Plimpton all give really good perfomances along with many of the other cast memebers (: This film should be seen by all, it's a classic (:

i love this movie The Goonies may be a silly and outlandish comedy, but it sure pulls it off. I have seen this movie about a hundred times since i was a kid, (not kidding) and it never gets old. It is a fun and wonderful movie forkids, adults and even teens. (hell i'm 16 and still love this movie) The Goonies is not just funny, it is an adventure with great characters, (Chunk is the man) all who have the '80s style attitude of teens back then. There are great contraptions, traps, and hilarious moments in this movie. Some of the effects aren't up to modern day par but if you look past that (easy to do when you are sucked into this film) you have yourself a great, fun time, with the kids who call themselves the Goonies.

The story, to sum it up quick is about a group of young kids, (about 10, 11 or 12) and three teens (maybe 16, 17) who find themselves thrown into a treasure hunt for One Eyed Willy's treasure, but are closely pursued by th 'bad guys' all a quirky group of terrible thieves. But that is the QUICK version.

See this movie and laugh throughout. Worth the watch.
