I liked the urban setting at the beginning, but this movie soon departed to a wilderness setting where a community of werewolves lived in harmony.
That's what the Howling movie series is about; werewolves trying to exist in the real world without persecution.
It's all cool, but not too scary. There was the scene where the bad werewolf threatens Dee Wallace-Stone in the cabin. People rave about the effects, but the facial transformations looked all air-inflated. The werewolf sex scenes were wild! The ending was very unexpected and tragic. -

MCT:November 26, 2008So I was hearing good things about the definative werewolf movie. I don't think I've ever been a fan of werewolf movies, the occasional one makes it into my DVD player (Silver Bullet FTW). In short, this movie is dissapointing. It's slow, unengaging, and dull. Nobody's heart is in it and the special effects, the backbone of any wolf movie, are too cheezy to recieve any sort of praise. I suppose I'm a wolf purist, though. I'll take Lawrence Talbot over Eddie any day.

MCT:November 5, 2008It took about 40 minutes for a werewolf just to be on the screen, I was getting so bored and impatient, then finally some cheese. The ending is a classic but everything else is rather boring...
