Cannot stand adam sandler
I never saw the original, but this one was pretty good. I don't normally like football movies, but I did like this one.
There are two things I hate most in this world: unintelligent comedies and american football. Who would have thought that putting the two together could actually be so much fun!?
The performances are satisfying, the storyline good enough for a comedy of the kind and what more could one ask but a happy ending? There are, however, parts in this movie that needed to be cut in the editing room and many things are completely inaccurate and simplified (prison life for one). Also, what personally made this movie a bit more ridiculous that it already is was the way Chris Rock died. His death was far-stretched and way too unreal (a stabbing would have been better). It was a bad comedy, but I had fun...
Cheeseburger Eddy: You gotta protect your McNuggets!
It's a pretty standard Adam Sandler comedy, but its got plenty of highlights.
As opposed to the more accessibility of the other Sandler flicks, this one is pretty heavy on the guy movie mentality. Besides the standard Sandler humor, there is also a good number of brutal prison stuff here. People are beaten with sticks and verbally assaulted in a non comic way, somewhat intense for a Sandler flick, but its counter balanced by Sandler, Rock, and a lot of the inmates involved.
This movie was also an excuse to pile in a whole bunch of wrestlers into a big football game and smack the crap out of each other, which is welcome.
Another thing that seemed noticeable but acceptable was how flashy the direction was for a Sandler film, complete with slo-mo football action, intense camera shots and movement. Its kind of jarring but gives it a sense of cool thats neat but unnecessary.
Overall, this is still a fairly funny movie, with some action and Cheeseburger Eddy...
Cheeseburger Eddy: I knew you couldn't resist my shit! I got the shakes that'll make you quake. I got the fries that'll cross your eyes. I got that burgers that'll... I just got burgers.
I loved the music in this film.. And the acting was surprisingly good.. Although I had alreay seen Mean Machine so I knew what was going to happen >_< Tres annoying.
