This was a good and entertaining movie however i felt that they managed to solve the problems quite quickly with not many obstacles.
I loved this movie. With a great cast, wonderful special effects, and an overall 80's-Goonies style fun, this is fun for the whole family.
It was a cute movie. Some of it was a little childish (being a childrens movie I looked past that) but over all it was a good movie.
It was very imaginative. I enjoyed the storyline. I expected more, because the ending was quite simple, but I guess it's okay. Perhaps they ran out of imagination. LOL.
i loved the part where they put the red stuff in the oven and then lit it on fire, and it exploded all over the ogres. that was funny.
A good fantasy/magical movie, I thought that Freddie did an awesome job, especially when he played both brothers in the movie! Of course I totally cried at the end, lol.
I was really surprised! The books are aimed towards younger teens so I thought the movie would be also. But actually the directors and writers figured that the fans who read the books when they were 14 and 15 are now 16 and 17...which is true for me :) It was really, really cool though! Very entertaining and very good acting too! I love Freddie Highmore :)
Good effects, good story, very creative. I didn't remember the main boy being such a huge jerk in the book, he was a little irritating.
Sat and watched this one with the kids.. I was thinking oh no not another kids film as it was about my second that day lol.. but was amazed i think this film is great very magical... And my kids love it they have watched it over n over has def kept them amused.. :o)..
You know you're in for a treat when a main character defiantly says, "We must protect the house!" and then the next thirty minutes are spent beating the holy crap out of the house.
It is an absolutely fascinating movie to watch with the family, a great master work has been done in the movie and as admiting a whole star goes to Freddie Highmore as playing two parts, he did an wonderfull job and am sure he will be a the future top actor. The movie has so many things to like about and the quotes to remember "i die, you die, we all die, byebye" hehe, always on my mind and the way it was expressed was just amazing..
Good movie..
Hmm, but being honest, i have spotted things which are similar with Harry Potter, Narnia and Lord of the rings, i could really compare them with this movie..
This is a really good movie ! i love Freddie Highmore ! Hes a really great actor in this movie !
This movie is really cool ! Freddie is a really good actor !
This was a good movie. owever, in one of the plit screen scenes, you can so tell that the boy isn't looking at the other boy (played by himself) and the sister was annoying. The Mom could use some acting lessons.
A mix of Narnia, Harry Potter and a bit Indiana Jones. Quite exciting some times. It's a pretty predictable story.
I saw the preview to this on my Stardust DVD, and I thought it looked like it would be pretty good. And I'm happy to say it was! I haven't read the books (But my wife and I have now spent 100 francs to get them all and Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide), but it seems to have stuck to them well from what people told me. My biggest complaint is that it all went by far to quickly, I mean they'll give 2 1/2 to 3 hours and multiple films to franchises that don't have nearly the level of material to work with that this did. I guess Paramount decided that since their Nickelodeon studio was in charge they better put a 90 minute cap on it just in case it sucks (which was Nick studios trademark, sucky movies).
Freddie Highmore did a great job as Jared and Simon. its not easy to play twins, but many folks said that they didn't realize they were played by the same kid and not real twins, thats high praise indeed.
Sarah Bolger was pretty good as Mallory, and she seemed pretty handy with a sword. not much else can be said.
The CG was pretty damn good I must admit, it didn't seem nearly as jarringly unrealistic to me as some of the more popular films of the decade have been. The Characters were quite detailed too, I was impressed and I usually hate CGI with a fiery passion.
As I said the only problem is they really rushed through this thing, which is a shame because there was alot more promise here than what we got. It didn't ruin the movie for me like it did for some folks, it was just a bit disappointing. Its a good film for Kids and Adults alike, whether they be 8 or 80.
A very fun movie. Who knew goblins were so evil - yet awesome! I am very glad that it had a happy ending.
This movie was really good. wait, is this what I said for my last review too? or maybe I said "Pretty good." Oh well.
This was a nice little fantasy film for the family. Freddie Highmore was more than a little annoying (more in the Jared character than the Simon character), but overall the plot, characters and effects were very good.
Minus one star for all the bullshit sibling rivalry going on. Even with the out-of-this-world discovery of trolls and other mythical beings. What a happy ending for all of us who have no idea of little flower sprites, invisible pigs and mice and whatnot.
Considering it was based off a children's book. I found this movie to be enjoyable. A little frightening to some smaller children perhaps but enjoyable for the young adult and even adults. Nick Nolte was perfect for the roll of the evil creature. His gravely voice and shaggy appearence just says"I'm evil and I can even get uglier than this"
LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely enjoyed it - a good fantasy movie. Keeps the interest level up without becoming too emotional or stupid at any point :)
This was a magical movie but not enough detail as to how he discovered these creatures to begin with
it was really really awesome!! i lvoed it!! I liked how everything wasnt looking so fake, yak now. i rlly want to read the books now lol
This is one adventurous movie........ trust me if u like anything magical then this is most definately for u.

You'd be missing out on a good movie if you listen to Richard Roeper's review from the show, same goes for the review of his friend. They both don't know what they are talking about.
very good movie. they changed a lot from what is in the books, but if you do not take the books into account then the movie was really great!
I admit it was good but it is not like the books. It has some stuff from the books but its all twisted and different and they added stuff. I wish they would just have stuck to the books and not changed it so much.
