This movie was SO gross! The part where the girl had her kidneys taken out was super graphic. It was a pretty boring movie at first, but the end was better.

MCT:August 25, 2007run of the mill so called horror that's a cross between the beach and hostel. only good thing about it was the bikini clad ladies. at least hostel had a good half hour at the end where there was a revenge trip. i'll try and avoid john stockwell from now on

MCT:July 2, 2007It looks like a total "Hostel" ripoff, but "Turistas" has slightly different emphasis and plotline. A group of kids go on a Brazil vacation and survive a spectacular bus crash. I loved the scene when the bus rolled down the hill! They collect their luggage, but the next bus won't be around for awhile. They find their way to a beach bar and go for drinks, sex and partying! Like Hostel, their drinks are drugged. They wake up robbed of all luggage and money. Two of their friends are missing. They begin to explore in the next village. Unlike Hostel, most of the kids stay together for the whole experience. The characters are somewhat forgettable. One thing I noticed is these kids never seem to be stopping to eat anything throughout the movie; I thought they'd starve! They run into some nasty people who want to remove their organs and sell them; but that wouldn't come until much later in the movie. There's a good bloody realistic organ removal scene, a few machete injuries, and a nice scene of someone getting tossed off a cliff and smashed on the rocks below. The rest of the battles are shown in rainy darkness, making it very difficult to see what was going on. Too much time was spent in an underwater cave. There's no turistas torture dungeon, sorry. The ending is funny, what the survivors say to the surviving turistas. After seeing this, I won't be going to Brazil either.

What you will see is a good, well acted, action packed movie with pretty people, beautiful scenery and some blood "not much" but the premise is not Horror it's more like the vacation from hell.
Over all I liked this movie and recommend it for someone not looking for a hard core horror or gore film but just a good suspenseful action movie.

Very good. Not seen a descent horror since The Descent. Nice eye candy as well. Good shout.

i saw this and didnt care for it, it was really graphic, and to top it all off we ordered pizza while it was on ugh!!

who care bout the lighting..u care but i dun care..i like the flim heap..the water chase n the cutting out kidney part..so well done..juz dun like the movie was short..

beside it just a movie it could be scary if you picture yourself in that situation in a foreign country, foreign language without nothing money passport cloth its just scary .. from the point of view of a brazilian its offensive cause that could happen anywhere any country to anyone even USA !!
how come if they get robbed they dont have clothes they always show up with different swimsuits even the girl that doesn have the upper part have another swimsuit in another part, and yeah right barefeet thru all the jungle !!posted 613 days ago -
it's a beautiful place where beautiful people die in this movie. some suspense. it definitely scared me. this is quite good.
