Nothing like Bloodlust. Besides looking old (late 80s-90s), the art/style is also much more cartoonish. I dare say Scoobie-Dooish. If you're new to Vampire D, watch Bloodlust. If you've already seen Bloodlust, watch it again.

It's probably not as good as I remember it when I saw it as a kid. I do remember it being very slow. Nevertheless, it was one of the movies that got me into anime in the first place.

Interesting from a historical standpoint, as far as animation in general is concerned. But that's about the only praise I have for it. The story is shallow, even when compared to the novel it's based on (a fun read, but 'tweren't what I'd call great literature). The design is ugly, the animation is crude, and the voice acting on both coasts is abysmal. Fans of '80s anime TV might get a kick out of it, but for people who want the polish of films like Akira or Ghost in the Shell, this is one to avoid. It's sequel of the same name*, on the other hand, is worth checking out.

*Note: In the United States, the second film is referred to as Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust.

Good movie. You have a tortured man, trapped between two worlds. Hated and despised both sides. But he still kicks butt and who needs to take names. I liked it so I purchased this.

Yes there is. It came out in 1985, not 1993.

This movie is the best! I'm not sure why it says it's released in 1993 though, I have the vhs of it and it says it was made in 1985. Oh well, great movie ^_^ (And not suprisingly better then the sequel but the sequel is the freakin best too)
