It didn’t do a lot at the box office – don’t think it was even released theatrically outside of the states? – But flashy action number “Running Scared” has been quite the money-spinner on DVD; so much so that New Live are bankrolling a sequel.
The movie – apparently one of Quentin Tarantino’s favourite films in recent years – stars Paul Walker as Joey Gazelle, who after a drug-op gone bad, is put in charge of disposing the gun that shot a dirty cop.
Its unlikely original star Walker will return for the direct-to-dvd sequel.
Meantime, The gang at Warner Premiere – the WB’s new direct to DVD arm; the same crowd that have “The Lost Boys II: The Tribe” and “New Jack City 2” in the works – have announced a couple more of films for their slate.
First up will be “Clique”, based on the popular teenage novel series. According to Video Business, the studio is set to release DVD titles from the first two Clique instalments and hopes to eventually street the entire series on disc.
The shingle will also be producing “In His Steps”, based on the classic Christian novel that originated the famous theological question “What would Jesus Do?”
