“The Penguin” Philip Seymour Hoffman “The Riddler” Johnny Depp “Batman: The Dark Knight” Sequel

Award-winning actors Philip Seymour Hoffman and Johnny Depp are being courted for roles in a sequel to the biggest box office feature ever, The Dark Knight. Sources close to the project tell the National Enquirer that studio heads are hoping to bring Hoffman, who starred in the critically-acclaimed 2006 film Capote, and Depp on-board for a follow-up to this Summer’s Batman epic.

“(Producers) are convinced that the role of the Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny’s a pro. He’ll be able to take direction from director Chris Nolan and still make the character his own,” the insider says.

“And what better Penguin is there than Philip Seymour Hoffman.”

    Johnny Depp is a great actor. he should be able to portray this character very well. If they don't choose him to play the character, they will be sorry.

    not to burst ur bubble or anything, but i wouldn't trust these rumors just yet. Not even th' producers are sure who th' next villain will be. Its in an article posted on this site, they're not tryin to use a villain that has already been seen on screen. like Christopher Nolan said, th' Bat has 60 years' worth of enemies who haven't even hit th' big screen. Don't keep ur hopes up for these rumors to be true.

    There u all go messing a movie up. Okay Dark Knight was good, but we've had to many Batmen, the only true to the kill Joker( Jack N) the only Penguin( Danny D>) and the one and ONLY RIDDLER( Jim Carrey). There are stil a whole lot of enemies out there to fight Batman so keep your public happy by picking a new one and stop reusing characters over and over and over. Well u get the idea.

    Id love to see a Hush storyline for the third film. Thomas Elliot stalking Bruce Wayne would be very cool, but they would need another villian involved, maybe one of the below:

    Scarecrow: escapes from Arkham & wants revenge on Batman from his imprisonment

    Two-Face: Batman & Gordon hide him away after TDK, so they could tell everyone
    Dent died, Dent escapes & goes after the mob/Gordon/Batman.

    The Riddler: a serial killer who uses riddles to tease his victims & the police, kindof like Jigsaw from The Saw movies, only done alot better!!

    Thomas Elliot played by Tom Jane/Liev Schreiber
    The Riddler played by Hugo Weaving/Jason Isaacs

    I know it's hard to think of Johnny Depp as Riddler but I'm trying to keep an open mind, because who knew a guy who played a gay cowboy, a sweet knight, and a womanizer (Heath Ledger) could do such an amazing job as Joker. That and a couple years ago, people said they couldn't do a good pirate movie, and Johnny Depp helped with that.

    i wouldnt mind seeing halley barry ...evan tho she got a rasberry for the movie i thought she was pretty good and i liked the movie!

    i dont like seymour hoffman @ All!!!

    i love Johnny Depp but i cant see him as the Riddler.
