Rob Cohen has revealed that he is keen to helm a fourth movie in the Mummy franchise.

The director said he was inspired by the success of current instalment The Mummy: The Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor, which is set in Asia.

He told MTV News that the new film may take place in Mexico or Peru, saying: “The Aztec culture had a lot of mummies and some of their mummy designs for the Foundation Army were taken from Mexican mummies that they have found. So I think that somehow that might make the basis of a good story.”

Cohen also hinted at the direction a new movie could take, suggesting that Rick O'Connell (Brendan Fraser) may return as an immortal hero after being treated by the pool of eternal life in Dragon Emperor.

Stars Fraser and Mario Bello are said to be pushing for a fourth film in the series, which has so far taken nearly a billion dollars at the worldwide box office.

    Bloody hell, I will not see "Mummy 4" if Maria Bello is on it, I´m not saying "The Mummy: The Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor" was bad, but Maria Bello f*cked up the movie, I will see it only if they bring Rachel Weisz back, and besides Aztec culture raised on Mexico not Peru, that was Inca, d´oh

    I'll not waste my time to go the 4th one, as i was literally dissapointed from the 3rd one. can't you think of something else?
    oh and a lil suggestion, get rid of Luke ford. he was TERRIBLE!

    i think Rob is a good director, i mean when a director enters a franchise he tries to make it like the one before, I also agree the script needs to be way better, but its hard when your juggling so many genres.

    beep rob cohen he totally messed up the franchise, if there's going to be a 4th one we need a 'real' director not the fast and the furious/ stealth guy and we actually need a script which doesn't appear to be written by a bunch 12 yr olds *cough* gough/miller *cough* go back to tv . Seriously the dialogue, guys what were ye thinking, and I'm not even going to touch on the plot, I 've said my share.
