Dear BATMAN fans: please try to exercise a bit of common sense when it comes to news and rumors about the next movie.

Sure, it's fun to guess about the potential, and who Christian Bale might battle should he don the cowl again. But until something official is actually announced from the studio or the talent involved about the start of a next (still-theoretical) Batfilm, it's safe to assume that any and all casting, plot and/or imagery is either speculation, fan fabrication, or 100% complete bullshit.

That includes this poster that has been the recent buzz on the internets (and has been submitted to us several times over). Yes, it's a nifty image that posits the involvement of the Riddler as the next villain, but sorry folks -- it's fan-made. (I'm not certain of its origin -- it was initially sent to us by 'MadMo' and has kicked around every site that starts with http:// over the past few days. I've also seen variations without the blatantly false title.)

UPDATE: From this article in Variety on DC properties becoming movies, about Nolan's future Bat-involvement:

"There's a deal for the director to helm a third pic, but he has yet to decide on whether to tackle it yet. 'We have no idea where Chris is going with this', [WB honcho Alan] Horn says. 'We haven't had any conversations with him about it.'"



Extra Tidbit: Don't be too surprised if it turns out that Christopher Nolan already said all he wants to say within the Batman "universe". And Bale might be "signed" for another, but that doesn't mean squat when negotiations actually start.

    2011? This has to be fake. Why would the studio go up against the Avengers film. Financially, we won't see another DK movie until 2012. I waited 3 years for the masterpiece that is TDK and can definitely wait an extra year for a possible 3rd installment.

    Its fake but looks amazing. The one who made it realy, got creativity. I realy enjoyed the DARK KNIGHT so I know this 3rd one will be as good as the 2nd. But hope they start filming it soon, or at least, mention the hole cast to the fans like us.

    xxMxRxxRestlessxxGypsyxx, The Riddler was not in Batman Returns. Oh, and they chose The Dark Knight as a title because it sounded cooler than, say, "Batman 2." It sounds grittier, darker, and....knight-ier than the others. It should be The Dark Knight Returns. But, alot of rumors have coined "Shadow of The Bat" as the title. Which sucks.

    nah, the title can't be the drak knigthe returns
    cuz the dark knight is already the 2nd part, so the 2nd movie should have been the dark knight returns
    it would just make no sense at all
    BTW, we should wait a bit to see Bale as the dark detective once again, cuz he will b workin a lot with the terminator movies

    Great Poster! I think the riddler is the way to go for the next one as long as he is dark and smart, not a copy of Heath as the Joker. Jim Carrey was trying to be too funny (which didn't work but Heaths did and well!), a hannibal lector type character would be good. Also, please no catwoman! It just wouldn't work for the next film! Scarface would be great to see, even Killer Croc if they could make it a believable story not just some virus! Poison Ivy, no way, the city is too dark for all the plants etc, we will be back to 'Batman and Robin'. Also, not for the next film but if Batman did have to have a side-kick, but Nightwing would be great for thse darker movies, they could try it and see the reaction by ending a later movie with him going his own way, if the movie is recieved well bring him back but leave out all the jokes and cockyness! Give him a temper and make him want to kill for revenge, then batman can teach him or something like that! Sorry, I just had to let these ideas out

    "The Dark Knight Returns"???? thats kind of a lame title plus the fact that it would be ripping off batman returns ecspecially since the riddler was in that one to. cool poster but crappy title.
