"Poltergeist" remake grabs two scribes

"Poltergeist" remake grabs two scribes

The "Boogeyman" scribes are rolling out more children's nightmares for MGM's planned remake of "Poltergeist," the 1982 horror film that made "They're here" the creepiest announcement ever voiced by a 6-year-old kneeling in front of a static-filled television.
The original "Poltergeist," directed by Tobe Hooper from a script co-written by Steven Spielberg, skirted an R rating despite its children-in-constant-peril, toy clown-strangling, face-peeling, skeleton-swimming medley of horrors. The MGM/UA release grossed $122 million worldwide and earned Oscar nominations for its visual effects, sound effects and score.
The story of a suburban home built over an Indian burial ground and thus inhabited by a nasty spirit earned further cult status when two of the child actors in the movie died after the film's release. Two nerve-jangling sequels were produced.
Horror thrillers are in Snowden and White's blood. The writers co-wrote the 2005 release "Boogeyman" and have had a hand in the attempted but never-hatching remake of "The Birds." They've also co-written "Knowing," directed by Alex Proyas and starring Nicolas Cage and scheduled for release in March.

They really shouldn't remake this movie ever. For one thing, the movie's haunted, and for another, this movie came out twenty-six years ago. If they want to remake this, they need to wait till it's been at least thirty years. Then they need to take some extra precautions to make sure they don't bring back the curse from the old movies. It's just too much work for a remake, they need to skip it. Plus, the movie was great back in 82, and if they remade it, I don't think many people would see it. The special effects and everything that made this movie special, worked at the time, but if they bring it to today's audience, they can't get the same type of reaction. Today's horror movies are much different. Just stop with the remakes already!!
